Welcome to Poemify! We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and have developed this privacy policy to explain how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our application. Please read this privacy policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not use our application.
This Privacy Policy describes the ways in which Open Sesame Education (“Individual programmer,” “Play Store ID: 6039211216569356403”, based in Rhodes, Greece, "We", "Us") collect, use, and disclose information about you through the Poemify mobile application, the websites opensesame.education and poemify.app (including the pages that show shared songs and videos), and any other websites, applications and online services that link to this Policy (collectively, the “Services”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this Policy.
By downloading, accessing, using and/or interacting with our Services, you agree and expressly consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of the information that you provide as described in this Privacy Policy. If you have any concerns about providing information to us or the use of that information as described in this Privacy Policy you should not use our Services.

BY USING THE SERVICES, YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND THE TERMS. THE SERVICES ARE NOT DIRECTED TO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF THIRTEEN (SEE SECTION 12). PLEASE READ THIS POLICY CAREFULLY BEFORE ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICES.
This Privacy Policy explains how we may collect, use, and disclose the information we obtain through our website or the Services provided pursuant to the Terms. As used in this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” means information that alone or when in combination with other information may be used to readily identify, contact, or locate you, such as your name, address, email address, or phone number. We do not consider Personal Information to include information that has been aggregated and/or de-identified so that it does not allow a third party to easily identify a specific individual.

We also collect information, such as usage statistics and crash reports, by using analytics tools, server logs, and other similar technology as you use the Service.
You can log in with your email address (we email you a one-time code) or with your Google account. When you log in with Google, we use Google Firebase Authentication to verify your login and we receive your email address from Google. We store your email address, a user ID, your username, your profile picture (if you add one), your app language, your country (see section C), your credit balances and subscription status, the date you joined, a record of each login (platform, login method and date), and a push notification token for your device. We do not ask for your real name, phone number, date of birth or postal address.
We collect and store the content you create or provide in the app, for example:
Some features work only on your device and do not send us anything, such as searching your Library and exporting a book as a PDF.
Poemify does not use GPS or other sensors to determine your location. If your account does not have a country yet, the app asks the service ipinfo.io for the country of your device’s IP address, and we store that two-letter country code with your account. We use it to understand where our users are and to improve the Services. Google Play and the App Store also tell us the country of each purchase. In Poet Chat, the app may use your device’s region setting to show helplines for your country; this setting is not stored.
We collect all information that you provide to us, including any Personal Information, when you contact us for customer support purposes, request the deletion of your account, or report content. Together with your message we receive technical details such as your user ID, email address, app language and app version. When you report content, we also receive a copy of the reported content so that we can review it.
The app includes the following tools from other companies, which collect information from your device automatically:
Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses, times and the pages or functions requested). When you tap a download button on poemify.app, we record your IP address, your type of device and the date, to measure our promotions. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
The “Scan poem” feature uses your camera to read printed or handwritten text. The text recognition (Google ML Kit) runs on your device, and the camera images are not sent to us. Only the text you then use to create something is sent to us, like any other text you enter.
Some parts of our application may show content by using a webview of an external website, for example older songs that play through an embedded player from suno.com. These third parties may use cookies in order to function properly and provide a better user experience. Our web pages (including song share pages) load fonts from Google Fonts and scripts from cdnjs, which receive your IP address when the page loads.
Purchases, such as the Poemify Pro subscription and Melodify credit packs, are processed by Google Play (or the Apple App Store). We do not receive your card or bank details. We receive and store the details we need to verify and deliver your purchase: the order ID, the product, the purchase token or receipt, the purchase time, the price, the currency and the country.

Poemify’s creative features use artificial intelligence (AI) services run by other companies. To fulfil a request, we send the information needed for that request, such as your theme or prompt, your settings, and the relevant text (for example the poem you want to extend, the lyrics of a song, or your recent Poet Chat messages). We do not include your email address in these requests. Because the requests contain what you write, please do not include personal information about yourself or others that you do not want processed in this way.
These companies process the data to return results to us, under their own terms and privacy policies. Some features use AI that runs only on your device, such as text recognition, language detection (Google ML Kit) and text-to-speech; that data is not sent to us.
We will share your information which may include registration information, profile information, shared content, and location information with the following third parties or under the following circumstances or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:
1. Posts: When you post Content on Poemify's home page feed, other users can see it together with your username, your profile picture and the information you used to create it (such as the theme, poet and poem form). Other users can like, dislike, save, copy, share and comment on your posts.
2. Comments: Your comments are visible to other users together with your username and profile picture. Other users can reply to your comments and like them. You can delete your own comments.
3. Profile: Your username and profile picture are public. Your profile picture is stored at a public web address so that it can be shown in the app and on share pages.
4. Song share links: When you open the share options for one of your songs, we create a link on poemify.app based on the song’s title. Anyone who has the link can open a web page that plays the song and shows its title, cover image, lyrics (synced to the music), your username and your profile picture. We ask search engines not to index these pages, but people you send the link to can forward it, and because links are based on song titles, someone may find a page by guessing its address. If you rename a song and share it again, a new link is created and the older links keep working. Deleting the song or your account disables its links. Videos you create with Videofy can also be opened by anyone through their own web page on poemify.app, which shows the video, the poem, your username and your profile picture.
5. Reports: When you report content, we review the report and may remove the content or restrict the account that posted it.
6. Data Sharing: Poemify does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. However, your shared Content will be visible to other users within the Poemify community, and shared links can be viewed by anyone who has them.
7. User Control: You have the ability to delete your shared Content from Poemify's home page feed at any time. Once deleted, the Content will be removed from the app. Copies that other people saved, downloaded or shared outside Poemify may remain.
8. Children's Privacy: The Social Sharing feature is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has shared Content on Poemify, please contact us immediately.
Poet Chat lets you talk with AI characters inspired by poets of the past, and helps you find an idea for a poem. It is only for users who are 18 or older.
We keep your account information and your content for as long as your account exists. When you delete a poem, image, song, post or comment, it is removed from our database; copies may remain in backups for a limited time.
When you delete your account, we delete your account and the content linked to it, including your poems, images, songs, song albums and likes, books, videos, posts, comments, Poet Chat conversations and share links. We keep only:
The AI services described in section 3 keep the data we send them according to their own policies.
We take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, for example by using encrypted (HTTPS) connections between the app and our servers. Please be aware, however, that no information system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. Moreover, we are not responsible for the security of information you transmit to the Services over networks that we do not control, including the Internet and wireless networks. In the app, you can change your username and profile picture on the Account screen, and delete your poems, images, songs, posts and comments. You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen (“Delete account”). If you no longer have the app, you can request the deletion of your account at opensesame.education/poemify/delete-account.php or by emailing support@poemify.app; we will ask you to confirm that the account is yours. Section 7 explains what we delete and what we keep. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in Google Play or the App Store.
You can also contact us at any time to request a copy of the Personal Information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails with the link in each email, turn off notifications in your device settings, and reset your advertising ID in your Android settings. Please keep in mind that a request to delete Personal Information may lead to the cancellation of your Account.
When we change or delete any Personal Information at your request, we will make good faith efforts to make the changes in our then-active databases as soon as reasonably practicable. Changing setting options may not result in immediate changes to the settings, which are subject to our operations and maintenance schedules.
We store information about users on servers primarily located in the United States and we may also store such information on servers and equipment in other countries, for example through our cloud storage and AI providers. If you are accessing our Services from outside of the United States, please know the data and personal information you submit may be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States or other countries. The data protection and other laws of the United States and/or other countries might not be as comprehensive as those in your country. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, as provided in our providers’ terms. By submitting your data and/or using our Services, you consent to the transfer, storing and processing of your data in and to the United States and other countries where we may choose to store data.

If you need further assistance regarding your rights, please contact us using the contact information provided below and we will consider your request in accordance with applicable law. In some cases our ability to uphold these rights for you may depend upon our obligations to process personal information for security, safety, fraud prevention reasons, compliance with regulatory or legal requirements, or because processing is necessary to deliver the services you have requested. Where this is the case, we will inform you of specific details in response to your request.
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, or under the minimum age at which a person can consent to the processing of their personal data in their country (for example, 15 in Greece). Users who are minors where they live must have the permission of a parent or guardian, as described in our Terms. Poet Chat is only for users who are 18 or older. If you believe that a child has given us personal information without the required consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
Posting of Revised Privacy Policy. Because we are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our Services, this Privacy Policy may change over time. The effective date at the top indicates the last time this Privacy Policy was modified. If we modify the terms of this Privacy Policy we will post a notification on our Services. Your continued use of our Services after such changes are made shall constitute your acceptance of such changes and will be subject to the then-current Privacy Policy. If you cease to use our Services after such changes, your discontinued use shall not constitute acceptance of such changes and such changes shall not apply to you. Any revised Privacy Policy will supersede all previous privacy policies.
New Uses of Personal Information. From time to time, we may desire to use Personal Information for uses not previously disclosed in our Privacy Policy. If our practices change regarding previously collected Personal Information in a way that would be materially less restrictive than stated in the version of this Privacy Policy in effect at the time we collected the information, then we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice and obtain consent to any such uses as may be required by law.
